Garden
We spend as much time as possible in the outdoors, we believe that there are lots of benefits to children being outside, it allows them to explore their environment, develop muscle strength and coordination, and gain self-confidence.
Which helps to build resilience. It also increases flexibility, fine and gross motor skills and relates to the development of a wide variety of physical skills, plus being outdoors always helps everybody’s wellbeing.
Children need to explore their environment and have a great need for physical exercise with opportunities to use their muscles to run, swing, jump, etc. when we are outside we ensure that we are dressed for the weather.
We also grow our own vegetables, fruit etc, this teaches our children about healthy eating and where our food comes from.
We have a secure large outdoors area which has things to climb, planting, hiding, along with a mud kitchen and sand pit. We also take the children on outings to the local park and places like the library.
