Nursery Rooms
Acorns
We care for up to 9 babies from 3 months to 12–14 months. The children move up to the next room based on their individual development and needs. Staff working in this room have additional training in caring for young babies.
The ratio in this room is 1 adult:3 babies, however our supernumerary Manager is always available for extra support. The children sleep comfortably in either a cot or on a mattress, both of which are made up with fresh bedding each day.
Acorns has its own kitchen where bottles are made up fresh when needed with each child’s specific milk. Formula milk is included in the price here at ABC 123 as well as Nappies and Wipes.
Our Babies enjoy exploring loose parts, musical toys and treasure baskets. A range of books are available for the Children to explore such as lift the flap books and texture books to develop a love of reading whether on their own or with an adult.
They have opportunities to take part in messy play activities using all of their senses to develop curiosity.
All activities the children engage in, are safe and suitable for the children.

We have spaces available for children who are entitled to 2 year funding and these hours are spread over the year, this offers consistency for the Children and we find it helps them form secure relationships.

This room is designed like a school Nursery to help prepare children for Reception Class. We have links with local schools to ensure children are “School Ready” and aide a smooth transition from Nursery to School.
Children learn to recognise their names when finding their peg when arriving at Nursery and finding their placemats at meal times. Children are encouraged to make choices such as which breakfast they want or whether they would like more or less.
We find this helps with any “particular eaters.” Children also take part in small jobs throughout the day to build self-esteem and confidence. We teach the children phonics through letters and sounds to help with the development of literacy skills
